Gore's Inconvenient Truth

Well, An Inconvenient Truth is becoming all too IN-convenient for the environment’s number one hoax-meister, monsieur Al Gore. (You may remember him as the internet inventor?)

This week Gore appeared before the bipartisan Senate Environmental Committee comprised of both Senators and House members on Capitol Hill defending his widely touted beliefs on Global Warming theory. At one juncture, he was tested by former colleague, Rep. Ralph Hall, R-Texas. You’re dear to us, but I just don’t agree with you on this.” Republican Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma, who has labeled Global Warming a hoax (I concur), complained that the Democratic leadership gave Gore extra time and advantages not afforded a typical witness. Inhofe then grilled Gore about his personal energy use at his Tennessee mansion and showed the final frame of Gore’s film that read, “Are you ready to change the way you live?” Gore responded with laughter.

This is no laughing matter- his personal home energy consumption has been showcased on the internet by a number of sites- information that is alarming by any political standards, let alone one who points his finger at the American public and basically states, “Do as I say, not as I do.”

Snopes.com bears out the rumors. Here’s the link: http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/gorehome.asp

If you aren’t internet capable, here are selected passages of the information:

“Gore’s 10,000 sq. ft. multi-story mansion has 20 rooms and 8 baths.”

“Gore’s home uses more than 20 times the national average consumption of energy.”

“Gore’s mansion consumes more energy monthly than the average American household uses in an entire year.”

“Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.” (2006)

“Gore’s average monthly (natural) gas bill was $1,080.” (2006)

“In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.”

This is Al Gore’s mansion in Nashville, TN.

Let’s perform a little compare-and-contrast. Let us take a look at our current President’s personal energy conservation plans.

The Crawford Ranch home-site, better known as “The Prairie Chapel Ranch”, is a 4,000 sq. ft. single story structure built of native limestone and topped with energy saving metal roofing complete with solar energy panels to capture the sun’s radiation and convert it to electrical current for the home’s interior systems. The home is positioned on the property so as to maximize the winter sunlight, warming the interior walls and walkways. The Prairie Chapel White House has geothermal heat pumps circulating water through pipes buried 300 feet below the surface. This water passes through a heat exchange system which heats the home in winter and cools it in the summer. A 25,000 gallon underground cistern (to minimize evaporation requiring the need for constant replenishment), collects rainwater gathered from the home’s roof. Waste water from sinks, toilets, and showers is reclaimed into underground purifying tanks before being funneled back to the cistern. The water from the cistern is then used to irrigate the surrounding landscape. The house consumes 25% less energy of the average American home. Here is a picture set of Bush’s home:

Call me crazy - but it seems that our President knows more about the environmental issues and the impact one person can impart. This is the mark of a true leader. One who can “walk the talk”. This is simply something our environmental wacko friend from Tennessee can’t (or won’t?) grasp. The most glaring injustice of all is that his film won an Oscar for best documentary feature. Documentary? Try Fake-a-mentary. I guess Michael Moore will have company on that long bus ride to Crazyville. They do look cute together...

I appreciate your posting on this subject. Maybe if more sunlight is shed on Gore's amazing hypocrisy he'll be shown to be the empty suit that he is.

Troy thanks for your comment on the Buffalo Gap Pics. If I would have named each image, the antlers would have said, "For Troy." As I was shooting those images I thought to myself, this reminds me of Troy Stirman!
